What is a company profile video?

A company profile video is often misunderstood as a video version of an About page — a timeline showing when a company was founded, what milestones it achieved, and what services it offers.

But that is not what makes a company profile video effective.

A strong company profile video is a visual story that helps people understand:

  • Who the company is
  • What problem it solves
  • Why it exists
  • What makes it different
  • Why people should trust it

So, is a company profile video supposed to explain everything about a company?

Not necessarily.

The goal is not to include every detail. It is to identify the one thing people should understand and remember after watching.

While company profile videos are not something we have explored as deeply as some of our other video categories, they have been a consistent part of our work; we catagorize the along with corporate videos. Since Motion The Agency was founded, we have worked with hundreds of B2B companies, giving us first-hand experience in how businesses use video to explain complex products, build trust, and communicate their value.

Why are company profile videos difficult to create?

The answer to this, as we have mentioned a bit before, is finding the right balance of including every relevant and important detail without making it too much. Most companies do not struggle because they have too little information. They struggle because they have too much information.

One of the approaches we use in dealing with quite a large amount of information, so in cases like this, we have a set of questions that help our client narrow down the information they need to put in a company profile video:

  • What is the one thing people should remember?
  • What perception should change after watching?
  • What makes this company different from competitors?
  • What information actually matters to the audience?

Kuberno

Okay, let’s use our Kuberno project as an example here.

Kuberno is one of the frontliners in RegTech, with software focused on corporate governance. Both RegTech and corporate governance are complex by nature, so the challenge was not finding enough information about the company or its product. It was deciding what mattered most and turning that complexity into a story people could understand.

Before production started, we made sure everyone was aligned on both the message and creative direction. We:

  • Shared five references exploring different transitions, pacing, audio direction, and colour palettes.
  • Agreed on the messaging and information that needed to come through before moving further into production.
  • Set up a tight feedback loop with 24-hour revision cycles.
  • Held alignment meetings throughout the project to make sure the information shown was accurate and appropriate for Kuberno.

By establishing those decisions early, we already knew how the story should look and feel once the messaging was locked in. It also meant we could spend less time correcting the direction later and more time making a complex corporate governance product easier for the audience to understand. The best company profile videos simplify complexity without losing the value behind the business.

A company profile video needs to work for multiple audiences

This is where company profile videos are different from other branding or marketing videos. You’re telling one company story, but the audience watching it can have completely different reasons for paying attention.

This comes up a lot in B2B. 44% of our full client base are B2B SaaS companies selling software, so we’ve seen how difficult it can be to communicate something that is technical, complex, or simply hard to visualise.

The person watching is not always a potential customer either. A company profile video often needs to communicate with three different groups:

Customers

They want to understand:

  • What does this company do?
  • How can it help solve my problem?
  • Why should I trust them?

Employees / recruits

They want to understand:

  • What does this company stand for?
  • What is the culture like?
  • Why should I join?

Partners / investors

They want to understand:

  • Is this company credible?
  • What makes them different?
  • What are they specialised in?
  • How long have they been operating?
  • Where is the company heading?

The challenge is creating one story that works for different audiences without becoming so broad that it loses meaning. A strong company profile video needs to find the common thread that matters to everyone while still answering the questions each audience cares about.

Obrizum

When we started our partnership with Obrizum, they needed content that could communicate with different audiences. The projects ranged from a video for their landing page hero to branded animations used across their website.

The hero video is a good example of how one company video can work for multiple audiences.

For potential customers, the video is both product and company-focused. It quickly shows what Obrizum does, what the product looks like, and the problem it is trying to solve.

For employees and recruits, the bigger purpose behind the company comes through within the first 10 seconds: “Empowering mission-critical learning with measurable impact.” The video also talks about learning and development throughout, making it clear what Obrizum cares about and the space it wants to make an impact in.

And for partners and investors, the same video communicates something different. It shows:

  • How the company is growing
  • What Obrizum specialises in
  • How the technology can be applied in real-life situations
  • Where the company and product are heading

That is what we mean when we say a company profile video needs to work for multiple audiences. It does not need three completely different stories. The same story can give different people the information they need.

A company profile video is more than a homepage asset

Although a lot of companies put their company profile video on their homepage or About page, that is not all it is for, especially when you look at the wider marketing journey.

If the video already explains who you are, what you do, and why people should care, why only use it once? The same video can become a shared asset across different stages of the marketing funnel.

Awareness

This is probably the most obvious one. Someone has just found your company and needs to quickly understand what you actually do.

You can use it for:

  • Homepage visitors
  • Brand introductions
  • Landing pages
  • Social media
  • First impressions of the company

Instead of expecting someone to click through five different pages, a company profile video can give them the bigger picture much faster.

Consideration

Now they already know who you are, but they are deciding whether your company is actually right for them.

This is where the same video can be useful for:

  • Sales presentations
  • Partnership discussions
  • Events
  • Follow-up emails
  • Sharing internally with other decision-makers

And that last one matters a lot in B2B. The person who finds your company is not always the person making the final decision. Giving them a video means they have something they can easily pass around internally without having to explain your whole company themselves.

Post-purchase

Even after someone becomes a customer, the video can still have a job to do.

You can use it for:

  • Customer onboarding
  • Employee onboarding
  • Customer education
  • Internal presentations
  • Introducing the company to new stakeholders

So really, a company profile video does not have to be something you make, upload to your About page, and forget about. One good video can keep doing different jobs as people move from discovering your company to actually working with it.

What makes an effective company profile video?

The answer is simple: for a company profile video to be effective and engaging, you need to show just the right amount of information while still making sure people understand who you are as a company.

Okay, take a look at our project with Sopra Steria as an example. The video is fast-paced and gets straight into their campaign, showing the audience how their workflow works and the impact it can have.

But it does more than explain what they are doing right now. It also gives people a sense of the bigger picture:

  • What the campaign is trying to achieve
  • How their workflow works
  • The impact they are making
  • What matters to Sopra Steria as a company
  • Their bigger plans and where the company is heading

That is what makes the video useful beyond just one campaign. Someone discovering Sopra Steria gets a quick understanding of what they do, while someone already familiar with the company gets to see their priorities, direction, and the bigger ideas they are working towards.

It is a good example of how one video can introduce the company, explain what it is doing today, and show where it is heading next.

So, how do you figure out what information actually deserves to be in the video?

We usually start by asking our clients a few simple questions before starting a project:

  • Who will watch this?
  • What do they need to know?
  • What decision are they trying to make?
  • What should they feel confident about after watching?

And all of those questions really come back to one starting point:

“Why does this matter to the audience?”

From there, it becomes much easier to decide what stays and what gets left out. A strong company profile video should focus on:

  • The audience’s problems
  • The company’s purpose
  • The value it creates
  • The reason people should care

You probably have a lot you could say about your company. The important part is figuring out what your audience actually needs to hear.

Types of company profile videos

Not every company profile video needs to tell the same kind of story. The right approach depends on what you want people to understand about your company and who the video is for.

Here are some of the most common types:

Brand story video

A brand story video focuses more on the why behind the company rather than explaining every product or service. It usually covers:

  • Why the company exists
  • Its mission and values
  • The story behind the business
  • What the company believes in

This works well when you want people to connect with the bigger idea behind the brand.

Corporate profile video

A corporate profile video is more focused on what the company does and why people should trust it. It usually highlights:

  • Company capabilities
  • Products or services
  • Industry expertise
  • Experience and credibility
  • What makes the company different

This is especially useful when potential customers, partners, or investors need a quick overview of the business.

Recruitment video

Here, the company is still the main story, but the audience changes. Instead of convincing someone to buy from you, you are showing them what it is actually like to be part of the company.

It can showcase:

  • Company culture
  • The people behind the business
  • Working environment
  • Values
  • Why someone should join

Animated company profile video

Animation makes sense when what your company does is difficult to show with a camera. This comes up a lot with SaaS, technology, financial products, and other complex services.

It can help explain:

  • Complex businesses
  • Software products and workflows
  • Abstract ideas
  • Services that are difficult to visualise
  • Technical concepts in a simpler way

And these types do not have to be completely separate either. A company profile video can combine elements of a brand story, corporate profile, recruitment video, and animation depending on what the audience needs to know.

How to create an engaging company profile video

Infographic showing how to create an engaging company profile video, covering five steps: defining the purpose, knowing the audience, finding the main story, choosing between live action and animation, and planning how the video will be used across websites, sales presentations, events, recruitment, and onboarding.

Well, there are a lot of aspects that go into creating an engaging video in general, let alone a company profile video. You have to consider the visual direction, the overall style, whether the video should be live action or animated, the tools being used, and the skills of the people involved in bringing the idea to life. All of these elements play a role in making sure the final video is not only visually appealing but also communicates the right message effectively.

However, before thinking about production, the most important thing is understanding why you are creating the video and who it is for. A lot of companies come to us with a lot of information they want to include, but the challenge is usually deciding what actually matters to the audience.

That is why we created a simple framework to help our clients think through the process before starting a company profile video:

1. Define the purpose

Start by understanding what the video needs to achieve.

Ask:

  • Is it for customers?
  • Recruitment?
  • Investors?
  • Partners?

The purpose determines the direction of the story.

2. Know your audience

Different audiences care about different things.

Consider:

  • Who is watching?
  • What do they already know?
  • What do they need to understand?
  • What action should they take after watching?

3. Find the main story

A company profile video should not become a collection of everything about your company.

Focus on:

  • The problem you solve
  • Why your company exists
  • What makes you different

The goal is to find the one message people should remember.

4. Choose the right format

The format should support the story you are trying to tell.

Live action works best for:

  • People
  • Culture
  • Locations
  • Human stories

Animation works best for:

  • Complex products
  • Software
  • Abstract ideas
  • Technical concepts

5. Plan how the video will be used

A company profile video should not be created for one moment only.

Think about where it can support your business:

  • Website
  • Sales presentations
  • Events
  • Recruitment
  • Customer onboarding

The strongest company profile videos are not the ones that say the most. They are the ones that help the right audience understand the right message at the right time.

How to choose the right agency for your company profile video?

Our advice is always: know what you need first before deciding on an agency. A company profile video can serve different purposes, whether that is introducing your company, explaining your product, attracting customers, or showcasing your culture.

Once you know what you want to achieve, look for a partner that has:

  • Experience understanding complex businesses
They should be able to understand your company, industry, and what makes your business different — not just make something visually impressive.
  • Strong storytelling ability
A good agency should help you figure out what information actually matters and turn it into a story people can remember.
  • A portfolio beyond aesthetics
A good-looking video is important, but the story, message, and purpose behind it matter just as much.
  • The ability to understand your goals
They should understand whether the video is meant for customers, recruitment, investors, partners, or multiple audiences.
  • The ability to create different versions and formats
The best company profile videos are not only made for one page. They should be flexible enough to be used across websites, sales presentations, events, and other channels.
  • Experience working with your type of audience or industry
This helps the agency understand what your audience cares about and how to communicate your value clearly.

At the end of the day, a good production partner should not only make the video look good. They should help you identify the story worth telling and how to tell it effectively.

What MTA brings to company profile projects

Our approach always starts with understanding why the video is being made in the first place.

Before thinking about animation styles, visuals, or production, we first look at the bigger question: what does the audience actually need to understand?

Across 183 clients and 233 projects from mid-2025 until now, we have worked with many B2B companies that need to explain products, services, and ideas that are not always easy to visualise. Through that experience, we have seen that the hardest part of a company profile video is usually not creating the video itself — it is deciding what story is worth telling.

Most companies already have plenty of information they want to include. The challenge is finding the right balance between what the company wants to say and what the audience actually needs to know.

That is why we look at:

Company profile video infographic showing MTA’s approach to company profile video production, focusing on four areas: understanding the audience, identifying what they need to understand, finding the most important message, and planning how the video will be used across websites, sales meetings, events, and recruitment.
  • Who the audience is
Are they customers, investors, partners, or potential employees? Each audience looks for different information.
  • What they need to understand
We focus on the key information that helps people quickly understand the company and its value.
  • What message matters most
Instead of trying to explain everything, we help find the one message people should remember after watching.
  • How the video will be used after delivery
A company profile video does not have to live only on your website. We think about how it can support sales meetings, events, recruitment, and other touchpoints.

The goal is simple: create a video that does more than introduce a company. It should help people understand who you are, what you do, and why it matters.

We can take a look at our Y Combinator case study for example

Y Combinator startups

Our work with Y Combinator startups is a good example of why we ask those questions before starting a project. We have produced videos from concept to completion in under two weeks, so getting the story right from the beginning was really important.

A lot of these videos were the first time someone would properly be introduced to the startup. And when you’re part of Y Combinator, you’re surrounded by dozens of other new companies also trying to get the attention of customers, investors, and the wider market. The last thing you want is to come across as just another new company.

That is why, before jumping into the visuals, we needed to understand:

  • Who are we trying to reach?
  • What do they actually need to know?
  • What is the one thing we want them to remember?
  • Where are they going to see this video?

Once we knew those things, it became much easier to decide what should actually go into the video and what could be left out. Especially with a tight timeline, the goal was never to explain absolutely everything about the startup. It was to make sure people quickly understood what made this particular company worth paying attention to.

Conclusion

So, what actually makes a good company profile video? After everything we’ve covered, it really comes back to knowing what you want people to understand about your company and why they should care. You do not need to fit your entire company history, every service, every achievement, and every message into one video. In fact, trying to do that is usually what makes these videos harder to follow in the first place.

Start with the audience, find the story that matters to them, and then build the visuals around that story. Whether you use animation, live action, or a mix of both, the format is there to help tell that story.

And when done right, a company profile video can do much more than sit on an About page. It can introduce your company, support sales conversations, speak to investors and recruits, and give people a clear reason to remember who you are.

FAQ

Look for production companies or motion design studios with experience in corporate and B2B video. Motion The Agency has experience creating corporate videos, from company profiles and brand videos to videos explaining complex products and services.

The tools depend on the type of video you are making. Live-action projects typically require video editing and production software, while animated company profile videos may use tools like Blender, Cinema 4D, and After Effects for 2D, 3D, motion graphics, and compositing. The tools matter, but the storytelling and production skills behind them matter just as much.

A strong company profile video should clearly communicate who the company is, what it does, why it exists, what makes it different, and why people should trust it. It should also be built around a specific audience and purpose rather than trying to explain everything about the company.

Start by defining the purpose and audience, then decide what they actually need to understand. Find the main story, choose a format that fits it, and plan how the video will be used after delivery. The goal is not to say everything — it is to make the right message easy to understand and remember.
