5 Best SaaS Explainer Video Companies Reviewed for Quality and Price

table of content
You can’t determine the best SaaS explainer video companies based on animation quality alone.
I think that’s the wrong way to assess these studios.
I’m more interested in looking at how they use video as a medium to explain a product’s value.
That’s harder to find than some would have you believe.
It’s like trying to find a diamond in the rough.
It’s no secret that you can spin up a SaaS explainer video (using Claude and Higgsfield) in 30 minutes.
But that doesn’t mean it’ll be any good.
In fact, most of the time, AI-generated explainer videos are lifeless and generic.
Every day, I’m seeing a new SaaS indiehacker getting slated on X for their AI-generated launch video.
These videos are nothing more than AI slop and they deserve to get dismissed as such.
An excellent SaaS explainer video company produces content that’s a “cut above” the stuff that’s filling your X and LinkedIn feeds.
Sure, these studios are using AI-enhanced workflows, but they’re driven by their own creative impulses.
And the results are terrific.
The best studios in the game are masters of storytelling.
I’ll introduce you to some of the best teams working today.

The 8 Best SaaS Explainer Video Companies Ranked
1 - Motion The Agency
Yes, this review might be a little biased. But before you judge, consider what Motion The Agency brings to the table.
Our studio approaches SaaS video content as part of the customer journey.
We’re always thinking about these videos, even if they’re one-offs, in the context of multiple touch points that prospective buyers experience.
Our SaaS offering includes explainer videos, product demos, onboarding and in-app videos, feature announcements, and a whole lot more.
This team is well-suited to working with SaaS marketing teams that are ready to build a bank of video assets and need more than just a landing page video.
Yes, landing page videos are great, but those are really the starting point.
Motion’s portfolio includes work for Lightyear, Minut, Sparkloop, Mirakl, Kuberno and Dext.
Our award-winning motion designers work across 2D and 3D animation.
I think our Mirakl case study is especially relevant to you because what began as a two-minute explainer expanded into multiple contracts, 30-plus videos and 11 Lottie animations across a seven-month relationship.
We have the capacity to support a SaaS company far beyond their initial launch.
Just last year, we made a staggering 500+ motion graphic videos for clients.
For us, the first step is identifying what the buyer doesn’t understand about the product before scripting and storyboarding the content.
Straight off the bat, we offer a free custom animated sample within 48 hours, with no commitment.
This is to give you a sense of what we can accomplish for your brand in a short amount of time.
After receiving the sample, you can take a watch and decide if we’re the right fit for you.
When it comes to pricing, we are rare in that we publish our pricing upfront.
We know how frustrating quote-based pricing is if you’re trying to compare companies quickly.
Motion’s pricing starts at $3,480 for a 30-second video and $4,080 for a premium offering, which includes detailed storyboarding.
Production typically takes 1-2 working weeks. The broader workflow typically spans about three calendar weeks when you take client review time and revisions into account.
If you have recurring needs, our subscriptions start at $3,950 monthly.
The entry-level subscription comes with two designers/animators who act as an extension of your in-house team.
Every month, you can challenge them creatively with animation and design tasks as part of a repeatable production model.
But before that, you have nothing to lose and anything to gain from requesting a free branded video sample from us.
2 - Demo Duck
With their work spanning 2D animation, motion graphics, 3D, and live-action production, this Chicago-based team is particularly useful if a SaaS business expects to need both an animated product explanation along with other brand or customer-facing video assets.
Demo Duck has been producing video since 2011 and their explainer videos form part of a broader video marketing service.
I had a look through their case studies and their work for Identiq stood out.
Identiq is a peer-validation and fraud-prevention solution.
Demo Duck helped Identiq develop the script, design and storyboard for a one-off video explaining the service to prospective customers.
Identiq client later described commissioning Demo Duck to create additional videos and short social assets.
Before you hire Demo Duck, I recommend requesting examples for products with a similar sales cycle and audience.
Clutch lists a minimum project size of $10,000 and an hourly rate of $200-$300.
You should also confirm:
- The timeline for script approval.
- The number of feedback rounds.
- If the quote covers cutdowns for paid campaigns.
This is all information that I couldn’t find online when researching Demo Duck.
I’m sure it can all get cleared up on a quick call.
3 - Thinkmojo

Thinkmojo has an impressive portfolio, having worked with Salesforce, Zendesk, Square, Asana, OpenSea, Sinch, Cloudera, Discord, Google, and Slack.
They position themselves as a creative partner for multiple moments in the customer’s relationship with a software product.
This is a major video and motion studio working with big brands.
Their work with Zendesk includes explainers, launch videos, and event content.
That’s the case study I’d point you to if you want to learn more about Thinkmojo.
Frustratingly, Thinkmojo does not prominently publish a standard SaaS explainer rate card.
But that’s understandable, as much of their work is with blue-chip companies looking for custom solutions.
The reality is, Thinkmojo’s offering is probably more than a small startup needs for a simple 45-second feature explainer.
It’s more likely a better solution if the video is intended to be part of a larger brand campaign.
When reaching out to them, I would recommend both a standalone product explainer and a multi-asset launch example.
You should also ask the studio how they measure success beyond video views and what the team does to keep product visuals consistent across long-running campaigns.
4 - Epipheo
Since 2009, Epipheo has produced more than 6,000 videos for over 3,000 brands.
With a client list including Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Deloitte, Cisco, and U.S. Bank, their studio team specializes in making complex products and ideas easier to understand through 2D and 3D animation, motion graphics, whiteboard, and live-action formats.
For Epipheo, a good SaaS explainer video is all about showing the problem the software solves and what changes for the user.
They are not interested in cramming every feature into one video or attempting to reproduce the product page in animated form.
Much like the other SaaS explainer video companies I’ve covered, Epipheo’s process begins with story planning and script writing.
They always want to make sure everyone is aligned on the story and general direction of the video before production begins.
When you look at their pricing, you will see the difference between a straightforward animated explainer and a larger flagship production.
Epipheo’s published pricing guide gives a broad range of $5,000 to $150,000+.
Of course, this depends on style and complexity.
Its starter explainer tier is listed at $5,000-$25,000 for a 30-60-second 2D or motion-graphics video with a four-to-six-week turnaround.
Those are guide prices. You’ll need to get a quotation for a figure that’s grounded in the reality of what you’re trying to achieve.
Before you move ahead with hiring them, I think you should ask about who leads the scriptwriting process and what type of animation styles they’re capable of delivering.
Sure, you can look at their portfolio to see what styles they’ve delivered for past clients, but it’s important to know what’s realistically achievable in your price bracket.
5 - IdeaRocket
If the explanation itself is difficult, IdeaRocket has shown it can help technical products communicate their value through visually engaging video content.
IdeaRocket’s portfolio includes Dell, Intuit, Tavant, Georgia 811, and ISDA Definitions.
A technical product can fail to communicate its value because the people who understand the technology are too close to it and can’t see the forest for the trees.
Simple screen recordings just aren’t going to cut it. IdeaRocket knows this, which is why they offer broad animation capabilities to visualize abstract processes.
The team offers 2D, 3D, motion graphics, whiteboard, and mixed-media production, and can develop a project from the initial concept or collaborate with a client that already has a script and visual direction.
I can’t seem to find any information on fixed pricing, nor can I find standard production timelines.
So this suggests it’s entirely quote-based and determined on a project-by-project basis.
I would recommend requesting a sample of a previous project with a comparable technical challenge.
Here’s My Challenge For You…
I want you to reach out to a few of these and request a sample branded video.
Most won’t do it.
They’ll tell you it’s not possible.
As far as we’re concerned, the very best SaaS explainer video companies will jump at the opportunity to showcase their skills.
They know their work speaks for itself.
That’s very much the case at Motion.
And it’s why we deliver free branded samples within 48 hours.
There's no point wasting your time with a generic template. Every sample is tailored to your company's needs and branding, with genuine creative direction and production work from the team.
And there's another thing worth mentioning: pricing transparency.
Motion publishes its pricing directly on the website. So, if you like the sample and want to take things further, you can easily check whether the services fit your budget before committing.
The idea is simple: see the quality, understand the cost, and decide whether Motion is the right fit for your brand. No guesswork, no commitment.
